Learning to behave differently
Honest feedback from an offender on a group intervention programme. By talking openly about their violence, listenening to others’ experiences and learning how to control emotions, offenders can understand and improve their behaviour.

Probation Officers like Laura Sexton look at the triggers that lead people to commit serious crimes. She helps offenders to take responsibility for their actions and understand the impact to others their criminal behaviour has caused.
Liaising with victims
Victims receive news on key developments about offenders, such as plans to release them from prison. The Victim Liaison Unit considers victims’ views when reporting to the Parole Board. If needed, specific extra licence conditions can be requested.
Programmes to reduce offending
Programmes Team Manager Joe Coleshill explains how her team challenges the way offenders think to help improve the way they behave. If people are ready and motivated to change, the offending behaviour programmes has proven to be highly successful.

To mark the official launch of Wiltshire Probation Trust, we have developed a public campaign called ‘Hidden Champions’ to shine a much-deserved spotlight on those at our organisation who work with some of the most challenging people in our society; managing and changing lives to keep our communities safer.
